Rabbits are lively creatures who thrive when spending time outdoors or running around the house, particularly during hot weather or without air conditioning in your home. Without air conditioning, your rabbit’s body temperature could easily become overheated. Furry rabbits with long fur, those born prematurely, young adults or overweight rabbits are especially at risk of overheating.
If your rabbit’s body temperature rises too quickly, serious health complications could ensue. Luckily there are steps you can take to keep their temperature under control and avoid overheating altogether. If you live in a hot environment or have one whose vulnerability increases with temperature increase, consult with your vet regarding potential strategies that could keep them safe this summer.
